Use Twitter Lead Gen Cards to Boost Your Drip Campaign (For Free)

This is a guest post by Peter White from Mullen & Mullen, an English family-run bespoke tailoring service based in York, UK.

Drip is a great tool for generating leads on your own website. In this short guide, I’ll show you how to take that lead generating power to Twitter and use your existing Drip Campaign to convert your followers into customers.

Twitter’s latest feature is Lead Generation Cards. If you are a Twitter user, you’ll have seen them on big brands tweets – now they are open to everyone and completely free. Its a great way to get people to join your drip campaign, as all the essential details are automatically submitted – they just need to press ‘Join Us’ on the Twitter Card.

Mashable shared some great data on how Twitter Lead Generation Cards are performing:

“In a case study quoted on Twitter’s blog, outdoor gear and apparel company Rock/Creek saw a 4.6% engagement rate and generated more than 1,700 new email contacts in one week by using a Card within a Promoted Tweet.”

Combine that great social engagement with the power of a Drip Campaign and you’ve got something your audience will love. Follow this 2 minute tutorial to use your existing Drip Campaign to convert your followers into customers.

Step by Step – How to setup Lead Generation Cards with Drip

  1. Sign up for Twitter Ads and add your payment details. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged.
  2. On the top navigation, click Creatives, then Cards
  3. Select ‘Create your first Lead Generation Card’
  4. The form below appears. Complete the card content section, looking at the preview on the right.
    • For the image, you’ll require an image 800px x 200px
    • Include an alternative URL – you’ll need a page promoting your Drip Campaign. I suggest a blog article, outlining benefits. Our bespoke tailoring course landing page is here as an example
    • Be sure to include a link to an up-to-date privacy policy

5. Now, drop down the Data Settings (Optional) area and copy the setup from the image below

You’ll need to change YOURID to your Drip Form ID.

The easiest way to find this to go into your Drip account, and in Forms > Widget > Behavior, and find the ID listed under “To manually trigger your form, use our JS API with this ID” (see below).

Copy the 7 digit number into where it says YOURID in the Submit URL and check you’ve set the Email Custom Key Name to fields[email], like in the image above.

6. Accept the Terms and Conditions and press Update Card

It’ll run a short test and we’re done!

Using your Card
