User Manual

Profile, tags and fields page.

The Profile, tags, and fields tab displays the person’s profile fields, Tags, Custom Fields, and Notes.

Under the person profile fields tab, you can edit the following fields:

  • first name
  • last name
  • address
  • city
  • zip
  • country
  • email
  • phone
  • time zone

Primary fields are case sensitive. There can only be one iteration of each primary field in Drip. If the person's first and last name is not populated in their profile, their email will display next to the profile avatar.

Name Fields

When you initially add a first or last name field to your account, that is your account’s default first/ last name field. There can only one default first and last name field in your account. For example, if you have First_Name, you can’t also have first_name.  Let’s say that you originally add First_Name to your account, that will be your account’s default first name field, however, it won’t populate the primary field in people’s profile. The primary field will only populate if the default first name field is called first_name. To change the default first name field so it maps to the built-in profile field:

  1. Go to People > Fields

  2. Locate your name field

  3. Click Edit

  4. Enter first_name

  5. Click Submit

If you change your first name field, make sure to update any liquid statements using the previous first name field.

Format Profile Fields

The profile fields can be imported manually, see our Import Data with Drip Guide on how to get started. These fields can also be populated via an ecommerce platform integration, like Shopify or Magento, and our Shopper Activity API or third-party integration. To map fields from other platforms to Drip’s built-in profile fields:

  • email
  • first_name
  • last_name
  • phone
  • address1
  • address2
  • city
  • state
  • zip
  • country
  • lifetime_value
  • time_zone

For more information on how to set this up, see our Integrate with Drip Guide

Web Visitor Properties

Identified people hold a few additional properties that unidentified people do not. In an individual person’s profile, you’ll see IP address, User agent, and Time zone which are collected once a person becomes identified.

In the Tags field, you are able to add or delete a person's Tag. To learn more about how Tags can be applied to a segment of people, see our Apply a Tag on Import Guide.

Custom Fields

Under Custom Fields, you are able to add or delete a person's Custom Field. To learn more about how to leverage Custom Fields when you engage with customers, see our Email Personalization Guide.

In the Notes text box, you can add or delete text pertaining to the customer.
